My Mission
My Mission
Navigating the unknown and unexpected can be difficult.
I would love to inspire and support you on your journey.
My goal is to help you successfully face your fears, try new experiences and become more confident and joyful.
Mind Body
Mind Body
I believe that the mind body connection has the power to affect our physical and emotional well being. Nutrition, physical activity, spirituality and social connections are all linked to better mental health. I sometimes incorporate walking, simple yoga techniques, health and eating tips as well as a dose of laughter and humor into our sessions.
We all want to be happy. However, past trauma, relationship problems and emotional ups and downs can get in the way. Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, anger outbursts or other unwanted emotions? Have you tried therapy in the past that "didn't work"? Do you feel that no one understands you? Are you frustrated, helpless or stuck?
I take a holistic, sometimes out of the box approach to therapy. Most importantly, I will create a warm, accepting sanctuary for you. I love engaging with people and find every person fascinating. I will feel honored to be invited into your unique world and to know your heart's desire.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
As a graduate student, I became intrigued with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and the way it combined traditional Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Zen concepts of mindfulness and non-judgment. I was so excited when my agency began a DBT program in 2009 and I became part of our inaugural DBT team.
In 2016, I became the first Ohio therapist to be certified by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification. Now in private practice, I enjoy using DBT as well as other modes of therapy. DBT can help uncover ineffective thoughts, emotions and behaviors and discover more effective ways of thinking, feeling and being. I can provide all of the components of the DBT program or just focus on the components that serve you best at this time.
